Although it has been around for over ten years, a new sheet material under the name has recently appeared on our market Phoenix thanks to the company Pinoles. It is a very strong and waterproof material from which you can make not only kitchen worktops and bathroom furniture, but any piece of furniture.
Fenix is specific in that it is completely matte. Therefore, there is absolutely no reflection at all no fingerprints remain (antifinger). The material is antibacterial and can be maintained very easily.

Fenix material can be used for any part of the furniture. Not only can it be used as a worktop in the kitchen, but furniture fronts, conference and work tables, chests of drawers can also be made from this material – in other words, wherever it is needed increased surface resistance.
The advantage over classic compact panels is a large selection of modern colors with core in the same colorsas well as possibility of reparation microscratch with the help of a damp cloth and a heated iron. A regular compact does not have this capability that the Fenix has.
Compact panel and HPL
Fenix is manufactured as compact disc 10mm thick or so HPL 0.9 and 1.2 mm thick. The dimensions of the boards are 160 cm x 420 cm and they can be ordered cut in half or a quarter of the board.
The compact board has the same core color as the board surface color, 1.2mm HPL also has this advantage. HPL of 0.9 mm has a core in a dark brown shade.
The HPL is glued to a 16 mm MDF board and in this option there are also matching ABS strips to close the sides.
Installation of a sink/basin in the color of a compact plate
Pinoles offers undermount sinks and wash basins with predefined dimensions and shapes. They exist two mounting options underground troughs (sinks or sinks).
The first is to place an undermount sink or sink on the 10 mm Fenix compact plate according to the same principle as with other classic compact plates and undermount sinks, where the combination of the compact plate and the sink is visible with the great advantage that everything is in the same color.
The second is to lay 1.2 mm HPL with a core in the same color on the raw MDF, then drill a hole for the undermount sink/basin. When assembling the built-in trough, we get a discrete visible joint with the upper surface obtained by gluing HPL on MDF.

The retail price of Fenix material is approx 250 euros/m2 for compact plate of 10 mm.
The price of 0.9mm HPL is approx 53 euros per square meterwhile 1.2mm HPL costs approx 95 euros/m2.
