The apartment on Popovica proves: Hiring an architect 'is not an unnecessary investment'


From custom-made furniture and lighting that gives a WOW effect, to a semi-arched wall that carries a TV, to an attractive terrace – the author's signature is visible at every step.

Although hiring an architect to arrange the interior of your own home may sound like an unnecessary expense to someone, the owner of this apartment on Popovici near Novi Sad realized from his own experience that the trust was given professional interior designer definitely a worthwhile investment.

Wanting the atmosphere in the apartment to be pleasant, with the arrangement that is modern, comfortable and easy to maintainand given that they do not live in Serbia, they are the owners complete design and execution entrusted to an architect from Novi Sad Sonja Brstini and, as you will see, the result is truly impressive.

A semi-arched wall as a solution to the problem

As the portal says Interior designSonja was given the task of editing two-story apartment in a new building total area of ​​approx 110 square meters. The apartment has three bedrooms, but also three terraces, one of which is 24 m² and has a view of Novi Sad.

The Pop Hill apartment is organized so that it is located on the second floor living room with kitchen and dining roomas well as one wet node, while they are located on the ground floor three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The biggest problem in the functioning of the space was the entrance to the toilet that was visible from the living roomand the interior designer hid it by installing a semi-arched wall, which at the same time obscures the view of the door, and does not obstruct movement through the space. Then it's on the wall located television, positioned so that it is visible both from the living room and from the dining room.

The kitchen is designed so that there is plenty of space for storage and work, with a bar in the middle of the space.

The living area is organized at the exit to the largest terrace. Part of the ceiling is lowered and built into it profile with light while it is placed on the walls tree at a low angle behind which it is embedded LED lighting.

The owner especially liked the design of the children's room, on the walls of which murals with safari motifs are drawn.

The sofa in the living room is custom made, as is the club and dining table. The only things that were bought as ready-made furniture are chairs, armchairs and bar stools. All other furniture designed by Sonja Brstina and it is custom made.

The greatest attention is devoted to lighting which, according to the owner of the apartment, “gives the biggest WOW effect”. It is precisely in the bedrooms that an attractive atmosphere has been achieved thanks to the careful selection and positioning of lighting fixtures.

Terrace with a view of the Danube

A special quality is given to a space that is increasingly appreciated – terracewhere you can enjoy the view of the Danube and the whole of Novi Sad.

“It may sound like an unnecessary investment to hire an architect, but when you think about how much time you have to invest in matching colors, furniture and who knows what would come to our mind when decorating, so it's definite a worthwhile investment both in terms of time and in terms of quality of workmanship” – said the satisfied owner at the end.
